Utien Pack Contributes to ISO Packaging Machinery Standards

On September 3 and 4, 2026, Utien Pack participated in a meeting in Jiangsu Province, focused on international standardization work in packaging machinery under ISO/TC 313 and the review of foreign language editions of Chinese national standards.

Organized by the national technical committees for packaging machinery and food packaging machinery standardization, the meeting brought together industry experts and company representatives to discuss standards development and review technical translations. Utien Pack contributed its experience in vacuum skin packaging to support clear and accurate communication of Chinese packaging machinery standards to international audiences.

Supporting the English Translation of Vacuum Skin Packaging Requirements

The meeting reviewed foreign language editions of five Chinese national standards, including General Technical Requirements for Automatic Vacuum Skin Packaging Machines. Discussions focused on technical terminology, the wording of requirements, and consistency between the Chinese and translated texts.

As a drafting organization for this standard, Utien Pack participated in its English translation. The team consulted technical literature and reviewed terminology commonly used in the international packaging machinery industry and relevant ISO standards. This work combined practical knowledge of vacuum skin packaging with careful attention to how technical requirements are expressed in English.

During the meeting, Utien Pack representatives discussed terminology accuracy, appropriate technical wording, and consistency between corresponding clauses with industry experts. These discussions helped refine the translation so that overseas readers can better understand the original requirements.

Utien Pack also participated in drafting and revising ISO/DIS 24158-1:2026, Packaging Machinery -Part 1: General Safety Requirements. The draft aims to establish a common international framework for equipment design, manufacturing, installation, operation, maintenance, and safety management. This framework is intended to support a consistent approach to machinery safety throughout the equipment lifecycle. Through this work, Utien Pack contributed to both the translation of Chinese national standards and the development of international packaging machinery safety requirements.  

For equipment manufacturers, customers, and industry partners, clear technical language provides a stronger foundation for cooperation. Accurate translations help reduce misunderstandings when discussing machine specifications, evaluating equipment, and communicating production requirements across different markets.

Bringing Practical Experience to Standards Development

Utien Pack has continued to connect equipment development with participation in industry standardization.

In 2013, the company achieved a breakthrough in the domestic development of vacuum skin packaging equipment, becoming the first Chinese enterprise to independently develop and implement this type of equipment. In 2025, Utien Pack led the drafting of GB/T 46076-2025, General Technical Requirements for Automatic Vacuum Skin Packaging Machines, contributing experience gained through equipment research, manufacturing, and production applications.

The standard took effect on March 1, 2026. It specifies technical requirements, test methods, and inspection provisions for automatic vacuum skin packaging machines, providing a reference for equipment development, manufacturing, and quality evaluation.

The review of its foreign language edition represents a further step in making these technical requirements accessible to international readers. For Utien Pack, contributing to the translation extends its involvement from equipment development and standards drafting to international technical communication.

The company has also participated in drafting GB/T 24711-2009, covering continuous thermoforming vacuum and gas flushing packaging machines, and GB 46772-2025, covering packaging machinery safety requirements. In addition, Utien Pack contributed to JB/T 15781-2026, the industry standard for food vacuum skin packaging machines, which has received approval from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

These contributions span packaging processes, machine performance, and equipment safety, allowing practical engineering experience to support a broader technical reference for the industry.
